Todd Oehrlein found more than sunshine in his recruiting travels to Florida. He found Tracy Lee and Gabrielle Tomeo.
They signed National Letters of Intent this week to attend UW and play golf for the Badgers starting in the fall of 2018.
"We're excited to have Gabrielle and Tracy join our program next year," Oehrlein said. "They are both outstanding players and have the opportunity to be impactful players for us throughout their college careers. They have great experience on a regional and national level. In addition, they are both excellent students and will be tremendous student-athletes."
Lee, a native of South Korea, attends Bishops Gate Golf Academy in Florida. She was named to the 2017 AJGA Transamerica Scholastic Junior All-American Team and has competed in a number of national junior events, among them the AJGA Rolex Tournament of Champions and the 2016 USGA Girls Junior Championship. Lee placed fifth at the 2017 FSGA Girls Junior Amateur Championship and fourth at both the 2017 AJGA The First Tee of Greater Baltimore Junior Championship and the 2017 Sea Pines Junior Heritage.
Tomeo attends Manatee High School in Bradenton, Florida. She qualified for the Florida High School State Championship four consecutive years and was the medalist at the district and regional championships as a senior. She was named the Sarasota Herald Tribune All-Area Golfer of the Year following her sophomore and junior seasons. Tomeo earned invitations to compete at the AJGA Polo Junior and AJGA Rolex Girls Invitational and was a member of the Dean's List all four years of high school.
