Mequon native Jordan Niebrugge birdied the last three holes on the front nine en route to a 3-under-par 67 that kept him tied for fourth place at 8-under 132, Five shots behind leader Cody Blick (61) after two rounds of the Freedom 55 Financial Championship at London, Ontario. After three straight pars (two on par-5s) to start his round, Niebrugge birdied No. 4 before his run of birdies at Nos. 7, 8 and 9. He started and ended the back nine with bogeys around a birdie at No. 13.
Osceola native Charlie Danielson shot 1-under 69 and remained tied for 11th at 5-under 135. He birdied Nos. 3 and 9 on a bogey-free front nine, but also bogeyed two holes on the back (Nos. 11 and 16) around a birdie at No. 12.
Waunakee native Lisbeth Brooks birdied two of her last three holes to shoot 3-over 75, good for a share of 46th place and eight shots behind co-leaders Rachel Rohanna and Dottie Ardina after one round of the Murphy USA El Dorado Shootout at El Dorado, Arkansas. After making the turn in 3-over 39, Brooks double-bogeyed the par-3 12th hole and then went birdie-bogey-par-birdie-par-birdie to finish off her round.
Osceola native Casey Danielson also shot 3-over 75 -- making a birdie on the par-5 fifth hole before bogeys at Nos. 7, 9, 15 and 16 -- to sit on the cutline entering Saturday's second round. Edgerton's Allyssa Ferrell shot 76 and Madison's Jessie Gerry shot 83.
River Falls native Neil Johnson bogeyed two of his last three holes to shoot 3-under 68 and join a 10-way tie for 10th place after one round of the Wells Fargo Nebraska Open at Elks CC in Columbus, Nebraska. Johnson got to 5-under with an eagle on the par-5 13th and a birdie on No. 14 before stumbling down the stretch. Madison's Andrew Steinhofer and Maxwell Hosking shot matching 70s and were tied for 29th while Holmen's Keegan Drugan (73) was tied for 68th and Abrams' Andy Buege (77) was tied for 107th.
