SPRINGFIELD, Pennsylvania -- Gabby Curtis bounced back from a tough front night with a solid back nine Monday and remained in contention for a berth in the match-play portion of the U.S. Women's Amateur.

Curtis, a sophomore-to-be at the University of Wisconsin, shot 3-over-par 74 during the first round of the 36-hole stroke-play qualifying at Rolling Green GC and was tied for 67th out of 156 golfers. The top 64 after Tuesday's second round qualify for the match-play bracket.

The Altoona native bogeyed three holes in a row starting at No. 2 and four of five during the early stages of her round She played her final 12 holes in 1-under with 11 pars and a birdie on the par-3 14th hole.

Osceola's Casey Danielson, who will be a senior at Stanford this fall, shot 76 and was tied for 104th.
