Mequon's Speedy Kent competed in the 2018 U.S. Girls Junior Championship at Poppy Hills GC in Pebble Beach, California.

The U.S. Girls Junior Championship is coming to SentryWorld in Stevens Point this summer and, for Wisconsin golfers, a mid-June qualifier at Mascoutin Golf Club in Berlin is the most convenient way for them to get there.

Mascoutin will play host to local qualifiers for the U.S. Girls Junior and U.S. Junior Amateur (for boys) on the same day June 18. The U.S. Junior girls will be played July 22 through 27 at SentryWorld, one week after the U.S. Junior Amateur is played (July 15 through 20) at Inverness Club in Toledo, Ohio.

USGA qualifying season in Wisconsin begins May 8 with U.S. Open local qualifying at Wild Rock GC in Wisconsin Dells. Wild Rock was designed by the team of Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry, who also designed Erin Hills near Milwaukee — site of the 2017 U.S. Open.

U.S. Senior Open Qualifying is June 7 at Meadowbrook CC in Racine. A year ago, Madison native Jim Schuman shot 69 and edged amateurs Todd Schaap of Kenosha and Kevin Cahill of Waukesha by one stroke at The Bog GC in Saukville for the lone berth in the senior major.
