What to watch

The Marinette & Oconto Conference boasts one of the state's top WIAA Division 3 golfers in Coleman senior Kasey Casper, a three-time state qualifier. He is the Cougars' lone returning golfer from their conference title-winning lineup of a year ago, although they do return junior Payton Deering and should find enough talent around Casper to live up to their billing as the M&O preseason favorite. It won't be a slam dunk, though. Eli Lawrence and Mason Marvin return for a Crivitz team that graduated the other three golfers from its conference runner-up team. Wausaukee returns all five golfers and Niagara four from teams that finished fourth and fifth in the M&O, respectively, and could enjoy a boost up the standings. And keep an eye on Lena, which didn't have enough golfers to field a full team a year ago, but — according to coach John Moe — has 12 golfers out (out of 102 students at the school) — and should see some healthy competition for spots.
