What to watch

Four Manitowoc Roncalli golfers who helped the Jets reach the WIAA Division 4 state boys basketball tournament have thrown on the polo shirts, laced up their Softspikes and shifted their goals to the golf course where they are heavy favorites to repeat as Eastern Wisconsin Conference champions. Roncalli not only returns all five golfers off the team that missed a state berth by three shots — led by UW-Green Bay recruit Ian Behringer, who finished third in the EWC last season — but they add an impact freshman in Luke Pautz. With four-time defending WIAA Division 3 state champion Fond Lac Springs needing to replace four of its top five golfers from a team that has dominated Roncalli's sectional the past four years, the Jets could be in prime position to make a deep WIAA tournament run. The battle for second in the EWC could prove to be most entertaining. Sheboygan Falls, Two Rivers and New Holstein all return just two golfers from last year's conference tournament lineups, but New Holstein has the top front-runner in senior Calvin Leverenz, who tied for fifth in the EWC last year. Chilton could also have a say in the race with three golfers back led by junior Cameron Owens.
