What to watch
Massive graduation losses hit last spring at Kaukauna, which graduated nine seniors from a program that made back-to-back WIAA state tournament appearances. That has opened the door for others to make a run at a Fox Valley Association title and, possibly, bigger prizes this fall. Appleton North appears to be the program best equipped to soar to those heights. The Lightning figures to strike for its first FVA title since 2013 with a lineup that features four of the five golfers off its team that reached the Green Bay Preble sectional and adds one of the state's top freshmen in Ashley Powell. Hortonville brings back its top four golfers, led by sisters Ava and Kate Downie, and could make a run at the title. Kimberly and Oshkosh North both have capable and experienced golfers at the Nos. 1 and 2 positions, but need to find two sub-100 scores on a consistent basis from their Nos. 3 and 4 spots to move into the conference championship conversation.
