What to watch
Bay Port keeps inching its way up the leaderboard at the WIAA Division 1 state tournament, finishing ninth last year after placing 10th in its state debut in 2017. The Pirates figure to blow the roof off of all expectations with four of its top five golfers back from a year ago led by defending state champion Jo Baranczyk. In addition to her, their depth at Nos. 2 through 5 makes them a tough team to beat. If anyone can make a run at Bay Port, though, it's De Pere. The Redbirds return four of their top five golfers, too, led by junior Jolie Guyette, who played a heavy summer schedule on the Wisconsin PGA Junior Tour, and Ellie Schneider, a senior who placed 40th at the state tournament last season. Of course, Green Bay Notre Dame is never to be counted out, even though the Tritons return only their Nos. 4 and 5 golfers from 2018.
