What to watch
Sisters Holly and Annie Murphy took Lake Geneva Badger where its girls golf program had never been before when they led the Badgers to their first WIAA state tournament appearance. Four of the five golfers who helped Badger win its first Southern Lakes Conference title since 2010 and finish 11th in its state debut at University Ridge are back. Holly Murphy comes into her senior season having orally committed to NCAA Division I North Dakota State and looking for her third state berth after finishing eighth as a sophomore and 10th as a junior. Badgers coach Phil Huff expects his team to have its hands full with Union Grove and emerging junior Veronica Parco in the Southern Lakes this fall and he knows it will be a tougher road back to the state tournament with defending Division 1 state champion Kettle Moraine moving into the Badgers' sectional likely to claim one of the two state berths that went to Milton and Badger a year ago. Waterford returns the four golfers who toiled behind 2018 Southern Lakes champion Aubrie Torhorst, who has graduated to NCAA Division III Grinnell, and could make a push for a top two finish in the conference.
