What to watch

There is what some might perceive to be good news/bad news for the four teams that have competed under the umbrella of the Southwest Wisconsin Activities League/Southwest Wisconsin Conference. The good news is that a fifth team has joined the league to give it official conference status, according to Lancaster coach Sarah Williams. The bad news is that team (Wisconsin Dells of the South Central Conference) is a favorite to win the new conference. The Chiefs graduated their No. 1 golfer from a year ago in Allison Anderson, but return two seniors and two juniors off a team that finished fourth at the WIAA Division 2 Madison Edgewood sectional and should be a threat to battle sectional newcomer Prescott for the second state berth out of the Prairie du Chien sectional. Darlington, the only SWAL/SWC team to reach the sectional, returns two golfers from a team that finished fourth behind the Southwestern co-op in the league and seventh in the sectional. Prairie du Chien and the Southwestern co-op, like Wisconsin Dells, graduated its No. 1 golfer, but were expected to return their next four golfers. Lancaster's Morgan Cooley is the top returning finisher from last year's SWAL/SWC Championship.
