HARTFORD — Julia Schilling made sure Kettle Moraine picked up Thursday right where it left off in 2018.

The senior shot 2-over-par 74 at Washington County Golf Course to earn medalist honors by two strokes over Cedarburg's Elise Hoven as the defending WIAA Division 1 state champion Lasers shot 323 and won the Washington County Invitational by 18 strokes over Hartland Arrowhead (341). Sheboygan North/South (345) finished third.

Kettle Moraine also counted a 79 from Madeline Fiebig, who tied for fourth, as well as an 83 from Jenna Anderson and an 87 from Regan Stuke. The Lasers threw out a 95 from senior Isabelle Gaudion, whose score would have counted for 18 other teams in the 22-team field.

Oconomowoc's Grace Suter finished third with a 77.

Edgewood wins at Watertown

WATERTOWN — Senior Grace Welch, who orally committed last week to UW-Green Bay, shot 74 at Watertown Country Club and out-dueled Rachel Kauflin of Wauwatosa East/West by three shots as Madison Edgewood shot 363 and topped Brookfield Central by two shots to win the Watertown Invitational. 

The first-place Crusaders also counted an 83 from Caitlyn Hegenbarth, who finished third; a 98 from Anaka Leske and a 108 from Grace Jaeger. Four Brookfield Central golfers broke 100 led by Nora Purtell's 89.

Badger, Murphy pass short course

LAKE GENEVA — Lake Geneva Badger senior Holly Murphy, a North Dakota State commit, shot 4-over-par 58 as the host Badgers shot a tournament-record 261 and topped Union Grove by 11 shots to win the Lake Geneva Badger Par-3 Invitational on the Barn Hollow Course at Hawks View GC.

Murphy topped Union Grove junior Veronica Parco by four shots to take top honors individually. Badger also counted a 63 from Annie Murphy, a 66 from Kimmy Chappel and a 74 from Grace Geils in its winning score.

Union Grove freshman Norah Roberts shot 63 and tied the Badgers' Annie Murphy for third place.

Brookfield Central's Sami Krutz wins in Illinois

Brookfield Central senior Sami Krutz served noticed that she is not to be forgotten in the girls Class of 2020 in Wisconsin, opening her senior season by shooting even-par 71 at Bonnie Dundee GC in Barrington, Ill., and sharing medalist honors with Barrington's Caroline Smith in the 67-golfer field.

The Lancers shot 322 and finished second to Barrington, which won with a 301 total. Erin Rosencrantz (83), Kyley Wipper (83), Eva Kumer (85) and CJ Romero (85) rounded a balanced lineup for Brookfield Central.

Waunakee topples Beaver Dam

BEAVER DAM — Aly Knzel shot 39 at Old Hickory Country Club in Beaver Dam as Waunakee shot 166 and won a Badger North Conference dual meet over host Beaver Dam with a 166 total. The Beavers shot 278.

The Warriors also counted a pair of 41s from Sydney Grimm and Brooke Ehle and a 45 from Natalie Hoege. They threw out a 51 from Carson Genda
