2018 Preseason All-Conference

First team: Marissa Gould, jr., Darlington; Gabby Ritchie, sr., Prairie du Chien; Kate Wright, sr., Southwestern/Cuba City; Kennedy Wagner, sr., Darlington; Lindsay Wolf, sr., Lancaster.

What to watch: Two of the top three golfers from last year's SWC-SWAL Championship are now in Menomonie — 2018 champion Bailee Bussan of Southwestern/Cuba City, who is playing for UW-Stout; and former Prairie du Chien golfer Mackenzie Maguire, whose family moved there after her father, Jim, who coached the Blackhawks last year, took a club professional job at Tanglewood Greens in Menomonie. What does that mean for the rest of the conference? It should be fairly competitive for the top spot at the upcoming SWC/SWAL meet. Individually, sectional qualifiers Lindsay Wolf of Lancaster and Kennedy Wagner of Darlington should battle Gabby Ritchie of Prairie du Chien for the top spot. As a team, Darlington has four golfers capable of shooting 55 or better for nine holes, but needs to become more consistent in 18-hole formats to make sure Prairie du Chien stays in the rear-view mirror.

Conference tournament: Sept. 19 (Lancaster CC).

Projected top three: Darlington, Prairie du Chien, Southwestern/Cuba City.
