The first three tournaments on the Wisconsin State Golf Association schedule have been postponed or canceled and registration for events on the Wisconsin PGA Junior Tour has been delayed as golf's governing bodies in Wisconsin continue to deal with the fallout of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
The WSGA postponed a pair of events scheduled for The Legend at Bergamont Golf Club in Oregon – a Senior Tour event (May 5) and a Net Partners event (May 6). No rescheduled dates were immediately announced.
A WSGA post on Facebook also confirmed that U.S. Open local qualifying, which had been scheduled for May 11 at Hidden Glen at Bentdale Farms in Cedarburg, has been canceled. In an earlier news release, the USGA canceled all local qualifying for the U.S. Open and the only stage of qualifying for the U.S. Women's Open with hope of an opportunity for qualifying in a different format.
Meanwhile, the WPGA has delayed registration for its popular Junior Tour.
In an email to WPGA Junior Foundation members, WPGA director of junior golf Andy Landenberger said that process, which was to have started April 7, will now begin at 6 p.m. April 20. WPGA Junior Foundation members will have the first opportunity to register for events (through May 5) before they are opened to non-members.
Landenberger said if the WPGA has to cancel any events because of the coronavirus, it will issue a full refund to participants.
