Tiger Woods vaulted to the top of the 2020 U.S. Ryder Cup points standings Sunday with his Masters Tournament victory.
Whether or not golf's newly minted comeback king leads Team USA's charge to reclaim the Ryder Cup in September 2020 when the matches come to Whistling Straits in Haven remains to be seen. No matter who tees it up for U.S. Ryder Cup captain Steve Stricker of Madison, the demand for tickets will far outweigh the supply.
That's why today represents an important step in the process for golf fans who want to see history made next fall when the biennial matches between the top golfers from the U.S. and Europe come to Wisconsin. Registration opened at midnight on the Ryder Cup website for spectators interested in buying tickets through the PGA of America’s Random Selection Process to the 2020 Ryder Cup at Whistling Straits (Sept. 22-27) and will remain open at RyderCup.com through 10:59 p.m. CT on Friday, Sept. 13, 2019.
“The Ryder Cup is one of the few sporting events in the world where the ticket demand requires a random selection process in order to give everyone a fair shot at witnessing sports history firsthand,” Jason Mengel, director for the 2020 Ryder Cup, said in a statement. “We encourage everyone with interest in Ryder Cup tickets to fill out the registration form online, as the number of individual inquiries we’ve received about our Random Selection Process indicate record-setting demand. We wish all registrants the best of luck.”
The opportunity to purchase tickets to the week-long event will only be available to those who complete the Random Selection Process form on RyderCup.com. Options and pricing for 2020 Ryder Cup tickets will be announced in the summer of 2019.
Once the process is complete in October of 2019, all applicants will be notified via email whether or not they have been randomly selected for the opportunity to purchase tickets.
