Mick Smith of Washington County GC used a 6-and-4 victory over Timothy Schroyer of Pine Hills CC to reach the quarterfinals of the WPGA Match Play Championship.
Ryan Helminen posted a 1-up third-round win over Craig Czerniejewski of Washington County GC to advance to the WPGA Match Play Championship quarterfinals. Helminen plays out of Ridgeway CC.
Naga-Waukee GC's Kurt Mantyla defeated Kyle Kunash of Grand Geneva 5-and-4 to advance to the quarterfinals of the WPGA Match Play Championship.
With a 1-up victory over Ryan Wieme, Joe Leonard of Kestrel Ridge advanced to the quarterfinals of the WPGA Match Play Championship. Wieme plays out of University Ridge GC.
Jamie Christianson of Horseshoe Bay GC advanced to the WPGA Match Play quarterfinals by defeating Michael Crowley of Morningstar GC, 5-and-4.
David Roesch of Storm's Golf Range advanced to the WPGA Match Play quarterfinals with a third-round victory (19 holes) over Jake Wisniewski of Ozaukee CC. Roesch is the defending champion.
Adam Miller of Lancaster CC advanced to the WPGA Match Play quarterfinals with a 4-and-3 third-round victory over John Shipshock of Bishops Bay.
Terasa took down the six-time WPGA Match-Play champion in a third-round clash of Madison natives Tuesday with a 1-up victory at West Bend Country Club. The victory sent Terasa, the 2010 champion and a two-time runner-up who is the No. 23 seed in this year's 64-player field, into the semifinals where he will meet No. 2 seed Mick Smith of Washington County Golf Course in Hartford.
No. 1 seed David Roesch, a teaching professional at Storm's Golf Range in Milwaukee and the defending champion, rolled into the third round with a 7-and-6 victory over Victor Jacinto in the second round. He then outlasted Jake Wisniewski of Ozaukee Country Club in Mequon in a 19-hole marathon in the third round.
Quarterfinal matches will be played between now and June 15 at neutral locations mutually agreed upon by the two opponents. The same format will be used for the semifinals, which must be played between June 25 and July 29; and the championship, which must be played between July 30 and Sept. 2.
